IELTS is a standardized test that measures English language proficiency for non-native English speakers.

  • Listening: 30 minutes (plus 10 minutes transfer time)
  • Reading: 60 minutes
  • Writing: 60 minutes
  • Speaking: 11-14 minutes face-to-face interview
  • Scores are reported on a 9-band scale for each section (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking).
  • Overall band score is the average of the four individual scores.
  • Most universities require a minimum overall band score, typically ranging from 6.0 to 7.5, depending on the institution and program.
